Best hair colours for dying South Asian hair
Firstly, just like make-up, when thinking about hair colour, a good place it start is the undertone of your skin. An easy way to tell what your skin's undertone is, is by checking whether you tan or turn red under the sun. If you tend to tan, you have a warm skin tone but if you turn red you have a cool skin tone.
The most natural and most flattering hair colour on South Asian women is brown and there are a variety of shades to choose from. Women with warm skin tones will find that deep rich browns like chestnut or ash brown or a rich golden brown compliment their skin best. Those with cooler undertones can use more intense browns like walnut brown or mahogany and coffee.
Red works beautifully with south Asian complexion but does depend on getting the exact right shade. Light red or copper would look lovely on fairer ladies whilst blue-based reds which are darker like black cherry or berry red complement dusky skin well.
Burgundy is a wonderful in-between that looks particularly stunning on women with olive or dusky skin.
Black is a little more tricky because it can look too dark and harsh and draw your features in. Instead very dark brown shades like dark chocolate, charcoal and espresso work well.
Of-course if you're keen to something less natural, then go for it! Also, if you want to hit up a shade that's supposedly not complimentary to your skin colour then do you too! There's no wrong shade and at the end of the day, all that matters is whether you like it or not. Wear it with confidence and you can flaunt anything!
